Ground capacitor system

Ground capacitor system

This is a novel way to ground your shack if your run to the ground rod(s) is long wrt to the wavelengths you are transmitting on. Essentially, use the internal wire of the coax cable as the ground conductor. Connect the shield and the inside conductor to the ground rods. Use a capacitor at the shack end between the shield and the inside conductor to bleed away any RF voltage that is generated on the shield. The capacitor is a 0.12uF, 4600V beast.
